Unless you drive an air-cooled classic, chances are your engine uses coolant to tame the heat and keep away the ice cubes. You're stuck with antifreeze, but did you know that you can make a green choice next time you flush your radiator? That's right, not all coolants are created equal. There are two main types: ethylene glycol and propylene glycol. Ethylene glycol is the traditional green stuff we know so well, the stuff that's bad for the environment and very hard on any creatures that come into contact with it. It's probably what your car is using right now. Propylene glycol on the other hand is a much more eco-friendly juice. It is biodegradable, and unlike its green cousin, it won't harm wildlife if consumed.

So next time you need to deal with your antifreeze, choose the friendlier, greener stuff. It's the least you can do!
