Defect Summary:
On certain passenger vehicles, the stop lamp switch may become misadjusted if an upward/rearward force is applied to the brake pedal. The electrical contacts in a misadjusted stop lamp switch may not open when the brake pedal is at its natural rest position, causing the stop lamps to remain illuminated continuously without service brake pedal application, with the ignition on or off.
Consequence Summary:
This condition will also cause cruise control and traction control system (if equipped) to be disabled. If the ignition switch is turned off when this condition exists, the battery will become discharged within about three hours.
Corrective Summary:
Dealers will replace the stop lamp switch with an improved switch. The manufacturer has not yet provided an owner notification schedule. Owners should contact suzuki at 1-800-934-0934.
