Honda Accord Rough Idle
Q. Yes sir, I have a question. I have a 1989 Honda Accord SEi, every time I stop while the engine is running I push the brakes to stop and hold the car at a stoplight the idle goes down but not stall, and the car shake very much. When I put the gear selector into neutral the engine return to its preset idle I guess around 750 rpm.
Is there a way to adjust this or replace something? And the brakes don't feel as tight as I thought it should. Maybe I need to bleed them? I don't see no brake fluid leaks, no wear, also no reservoir loss of fluid.
Thanks,
JoeA. As for the idle speed, the first thing you should do is see if there are any codes stored in the computer. If there are it will give you a good place to start looking.
There are different possibilities for fuel injected or carburetted engines. Since you didn't specify which you had the best thing would be to have a mechanic look at it for you.
As for the brakes, if there is any question about them you should get them inspected right away. It may just need an adjustment, but the whole brake system should be checked to be sure that is all it needs.
