Ford Taurus Head Cracked??
Q. Vince, Ford Mechanic tells me the engine is pushing coolant through plug hole, and that reworking the heads will not fix the problem. Can you shed any light on this problem. Ford Mechanic seems to know what is going on so I assume they have seen this problem before.
- 1997 Ford Taurus Station Wagon
- 3.0 Liter V-6
- Automatic Transmission
- P/S, A/C, ABS
Thank you!
TomA. If the head is cracked and allowing coolant to get into the cylinder, then reconditioning the head will not fix it. The head must be replaced.
If coolant is coming in due to a blown head gasket, then the head gasket would need to be replaced. Those are the only two ways coolant can get into the cylinder.
