Honda Accord Blower Motor

Q. Vince, I stumbled upon your site while searching the net for a solution to my Honda problem. I'm really car "dumb" so any advice you could offer would be great.

Honda Accord Blower Motor

Our heating and A/C has taken to not working lately. If you put your hand by the vent, you can feel heat or cool, but it is not blowing out. You can almost hear the engine give a little kick like it wants to come on. If I leave the fan switch in the "on" position, sporadically (every week or so) it will turn on and I will have working heat or A/C.

Then, as magically as it started, it will stop working again. Any thoughts on what the problem can be? I've been told it may be electric and hours before someone at a shop can figure this out.

Thanks for your reply,
Kim

A. It could be an electrical problem, but as old as this car is, I would think it's the blower motor itself. This blower motor is not easy to get to. In fact, it's about a 4.5 hour job to replace.

But I would check out the electrical system first, before I condem the blower motor.
