Acura Integra Wheel Bearings
Q. Hello, I bought my new "used" 1991 Acura Integra two days ago, and I've recently noticed a scrubbing sound from the front driver side. It only does it when the car is moving and it gets louder when I go faster and quiter when I slow down. I shook my tires "thinking it could loose but the driver side was fine. Then I shook the passenger side and it had about a ¼ inch of slack in it.
Could this be what I'm hearing on the driver side and if so, what could it be? Also, I checked all the lug nuts and they seemed tight it was the whole hub shaking. The car has 180,000 miles.
Thanks for all of your help,
BrandonA. You most definitely have bad right front wheel bearings. There should be no play and the sound you here is from the bearings. I would not recommend driving it until the right front wheel bearings are replaced and the left front wheel bearings are checked as well. Usually if one side goes bad, the other side is not far behind.
