Audi A4 Is Taking On Water

Q. Hello Vincent, I have water, possibly rainwater as we have had quite a bit lately, on the floor in the front and rear passenger side, right hand drive, of my 1995 Audi A4 19tdi and was wondering if there is a drainage channel blocked somewhere as I previously experienced on a previously owned car?

Many thanks,
Michael

Audi A4 Is Taking On Water

A. If you have a sunroof there are four water drains, one at each corner that can get clogged. I usually blow them clear with low pressure compressed air. You can also use an old speedometer cable core to snake them out if needed.

If you don't have a sunroof, or the sunroof drains are clear, then you probably have a door seal that is torn or just not sealing. What you need to do is climb inside the car while someone sprays the car, making sure to get the seams, with water, and see where the water is coming in from.

Incident Simulation Testing will help you.
