Chevy K-1500 Door Locks Q. 1989 Chevy K-1500 pickup. I have a security system on this truck and the system would lock and unlock with this system. Now what is happening is that I have to manually lock the doors and turn on the security system. When I return to my truck, I press the unlock button and the doors will unlock, but I cannot lock the doors with the security system.

I guess being able to unlock the doors means the fuse is okay. This happened intermittently at first where the lock part of it would not work for a few days and then begin to work on its own, then quit again. The unlock portion has always worked. Any ideas?

A. Most times when people put these systems in they "tap"into the factory harness with a thing called a "scotchlock". These can allow corrosion to accumulate in the connection or worse can actually cut some of the strands in the wires. Try to find the location of the module and wiggle the wires to see if it comes back to life. If not, see a guy who installs them. I'll bet he finds the problem in less than a half hour.
