Oldsmobile Cutlass Dying On The Road

Q. I have a 1995 Oldsmobile Cutlass with a six cylinder engine. When the engine is cold on three occasions, the car has started and within 100 yards of travel has died. I have been able to restart it and continue driving on two of the three occasions. I brought the car to a Firestone dealership and they ran the car an entire week without problems.

Oldsmobile Cutlass Dying On The Road

When my wife picked it up, it died about 100 yards when she left but was able to restart the engine and return. They still have not found the problem as the car then ran fine for another week. It seems to happen only when the engine is cold. Once it is warmed up no problems.

Thanks for any help you can provide.

A. They need a fuel pressure gauge on it to see what the pressure is doing when it does cut off. This would at least rule out the fuel pump if the pressure stays normal. May be spark cutting out, intermittent sensor problem, loss of fuel pressure, or loss of power to the PCM.
