Chevy Blazer S-10 Electrical Weirdness Q. 1991 Chevy Blazer S-10, 4WD, automatic transmission, fuel injected at throttle body, 120,000 miles. When I push on the brakes while driving the digital display on the instrument panel goes black. Then I release the brake and it comes back. With the key off if I step on the brakes the park lights come on and the alarm that tell me I have left my lights on comes on.

The front left blinker does flash when signaling a left turn, but it flashes when I put the hazard lights on, come on with the park lights.

A. Sounds like the cluster lost it's ground. Look under the left side corner of the dash, just above the parking brake pedal and see if the dash bolt has fallen out or come loose. I've seen a couple of these missing and the dash had all kinds of weird things going on. It seems that the dash is grounded through this bolt.
