Missing Lincoln Town Car Q. Hi Vincent, Upon acceleration there is a miss, it is not a smooth acceleration. A struggle. Back fires. Smells like burning of plastic. Went to Auto Zone and hooked up computer. Result was that the number six cylinder miss detected. A. If it is number six that is missing, then the possibilities are a bad spark plug, bad spark plug wire or a bad fuel injector. What you can do is pull the spark plug wire off of number six and see if there is spark. If there is then pull the spark plug and replace it.

If the miss is still there, then there is a problem with number six fuel injector, injector wiring or PCM.
