Dodge Ram Bogs Down

Q. I have a 1998 Dodge Ram 4x4 with a 360 motor. It was running good and it just went bad. It will not stay running and it does not have any power. When you push the gas it just bogs down. Things I have checked:

Dodge Ram Bogs Down

  1. It has good fuel pressure.
  2. It has very little to no vacuum, and I can not find a leak.
  3. I put #1 at TDC and the distributor rotor seems to be pointing at #1.
  4. I have checked the camshaft sensor and it seems to be good.

BTW the check engine light is not on, so I have not checked for an error code. If there is any direction you can point me in? I would really appreciate it.

Thanks,
Bobby

A. I guess the first thing I would have to ask is if you replaced the fuel filter. A clogged fuel filter will have good fuel pressure but when you place a load on the engine it will not allow the volume of fuel it needs. Thus it bogs down in the manner you describe. I would replace the fuel filter and see if that takes care of the problem.
