Red Hot Manifolds

Q. Hi, I have a 1979 GMC Caballero and recently have changed the Intake Manifold (Edelbrock #3701) , Q-Jet Carburetor (Edelbrock #1903), and a Distributor (Prolite). My question is that my exhaust manifolds get red hot in ten minutes of running the engine. What can I do to prevent this from happening?

Thanks you for your time,
Jessica

A. If it were running to rich it would not be doing this, too much fuel will cool down the exhaust. This leads us to a "too lean" problem. Not enough fuel. It could possibly be wrong carburetor jets. The timing could be way off as well. check the base timing first. Then check the carburetor.
