Accord A/C Not Cold Enough

Q. Hello Vincent, I am currently experiencing problem with my car's A/C. I hope you can help me or give me any advice. Summer has come, the car's A/C system doesn't blow out air that's cold enough. As I drive in hot weather, it only blows out cold air once in a while (very acceptable cold air).

Other times the air is not cold enough. Also, when I drive the car on highway, the A/C works good. So what could be wrong? Freon level is good. 1987 Honda Accord, LXi.

Thank you very much

A. I guess the first thing I would want to check is the cooling fans. It sounds like one or both may not be working and at highway speed, there is enough air flow through the condenser to cool the system and make cold air.

Another possibility is a weak A/C compressor. It may not be moving the refrigerant through the system sufficiently.
