Grand Prix Transmissions

Q. Vincent, My name is Bobby. I have two Pontiac Grand Prix GTP automobiles. I bought both with bad transmissions. One I took to the local Pontiac dealer, the other to a local transmission shop. The pontiac dealer replaced two sensors inside the transmission, the shifter sensor and the ECM .961.00 later the same problem. The local transmission shop put a new rebuilt transmission in the other one, and it still has the same problem.

Grand Prix Transmissions

The problem on both is this. They take off fine and shift fine all the way in to OD then after several miles they will downshift to third all by themselves and not return to o.d. again until they cool down all the way then again they shift fine through OD until they are warmed again then the same all over again. Please help if you can. Everyone else is lost on what to do.

Thanks...

A. There may be a service bulletin out for this problem that the dealer is overlooking. Are you telling me that the dealer has given up? Did you pay for this new transmission? I think they need to try a little harder to keep you satisfied! If they put a SERTA in it, they are pretty reliable so it must be a external wiring problem with chaffing somewhere.
