Oil Stop Leak? Q. Hi, We have a minor oil leak, in our 1997 Nissan Sentra. Before we spend hundreds of dollars getting it fixed, I was wondering if there was one brand of stop leak fluid that actually works. Thanks...

A. I don't remember ever seeing a oil stop leak product. And if there is such a thing, I would be real nervous about using one. If it can stop, say, a leaking valve cover gasket, it would probably close up the oil channel in the camshaft and crankshaft.

Personally I think the best and safest way to stop an oil leak is to find the cause of the leak and repair it.
