Lincoln Town Car Steering Wheel Starts
Q. My 1991 Lincoln Town Car has an intermittent starting problem. I have traced it down to the steering wheel position. Some days I will start the car and hear the relay engage but the starter motor does not turn. I have found that if the steering wheel is repositioned a few degrees, the starter motor will start the car. I have reassembled the starter and relay and found no problems. Any suggestions?
A. If the steering wheel does, indeed, have an effect, then I would suggest looking at the wiring down around the base of the steering column and around the ignition switch.
