Souping Up A 4.3
Q. Dear Mr.Ciulla, I own a 1997 Chevy C1500 with a 4.3 liter Vortech. I was wanting to know if you know of any way of increasing the HP for this motor or maybe a supercharger. I would like to start out the cheapest way but would like to gain some major hp. Please help!

DustinA. One thing you have to keep in mind is that horsepower isn't cheap. A supercharger is going to cost you anywhere from $1,500.00 to $2,000.00 to have one installed, if there is a supercharger made for it.
The best thing to do is to find a speed shop near you and go in and talk to them. They will know what's available and how far you can go with that engine. You can also get performance chips for the computer that will increase power somewhat.
