Flashing Climate Control

Q. I have a 1994 Buick Park Avenue, 3.8 liter, 100,000 miles, Automatic transmission, ABS, A/C and P/S. Lately, when I turn on the heater after the car warms up, the air is cool, not warm. The blower works fine and I've noticed the digital temperature display will blink on and off at times. Any ideas?

A. The Electronic Climate Control has a self-diagnostic function and will store a Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC). When A DTC is set, the temperature flashes during the first two minutes of operation to alert the operator that there is a problem, as if the lack of heat on a 10° day wasn't enough.

The only way to access DTCs is with the use of a scan tool, so a trip to shop with a scan tool will be required to find out what is wrong.
