Mazda Transmission Leaks
Q. I have a 1993 Mazda 626 LX Sedan with an automatic transmission. I took my car in for an oil change and was told I had a transmission leak. Before taking it to a mechanic I was wanting to know what to expect in the way of cost. Being a new person I want to know what to ask and expect before agreeing to any work. Can you help?
Regards,
JagdishA. The cost of repairing the leak can vary greatly, depending on what is leaking.
If it is a side axle seals, then it would run about $6.00 each for the two seals and about two hours labor to replace them. If it is a transmission pan gasket, then it would run about $13.00 for the gasket and about 1.5 hours to replace it. If that's what it is, you should replace the transmission filter at the same time.
