Lights, Chime, Action

Q. I am trying to help a buddy fix a 1992 Pontiac Grand Am. He took it in to have a heater core replaced. It was replaced without a problem, however the radio didn't work. We fixed the radio by reconnecting a wire that had come disconnected. However, now the dome light stays on and the chime goes off continually. Any thoughts?

John

A. Since the problem seems to have started at the same time the heater core and radio was repaired, I'm going to assume there are no problems with the door switches.

There is a small control unit in the dash, near the radio, that has probably been damaged or lost a ground. About all you can do is check the ground wire and if it is okay, then you need to replace the chime unit..
