MotorMax Cooling System Booster

This past summer I tried out a new product called MotorMax Cooling System Booster. MotorMax Cooling System Additive is an all-natural, non-toxic and biodegradable product designed to improve the efficiency of any water cooled engine. I decided to put it to a test.

The first thing I did was to do a full cooling system service to my car, a 1983 Mercedes Benz 300D Turbo Diesel with 218,000 miles. This service comprised a reverse cooling system flush using the Prestone flushing system and refilling with a 50/50 mix of Texaco Anti-Freeze/Coolant and water. I also installed a new 180° F thermostat.

I then installed a digital thermometer in the upper radiator hose midway between the thermostat housing and the radiator. This would give me an accurate temperature reading of the coolant coming out of the engine and before it got to the radiator. I drove the car like this for two weeks before recording any readings.

Since the object of the test was to determine if, indeed, MotorMax keeps engines running cooler, I made five trips to Minneapolis, MN from Rochester, MN. A distance of about 170 miles round trip from the Mercedes Dealer to my shop. This would allow the engine to come up to it's maximum temperature. I did this the last two weeks in July, July 17, 2002 to July 31, 2002. I also made note of the ambient air temperature on the days I made the trips. My highest average temperature was 211° F. My air conditioner outlet air temperature was 38° F.

I then added MotorMax Cooling System Booster to my radiator according to the directions. I drove it for seven days to allow it to circulate throughout the engine evenly. I then made the same five trips as I did before on days when the ambient air temperature was the same as the previous trips.

The highest average temperature was 190° F and my air conditioner outlet air temperature was 34° F. So this product lowered my engines cooling system temperature by 11° F and my air conditioner outlet air temperature by 4° F.

I performed the same test under the same conditions with the same preparations on a 1995 Toyota Camry with a four cylinder engine. I got comparable results. The engine ran 15° F cooler and the air conditioner ran 6° F colder.

It would seem to me that this product does do what it claims and does help your engine run cooler and makes your air conditioner work a little better. This would probably be a big help to people who live in the areas of the country where the temperatures get into the 100's.

MotorMax Cooling System Booster sells for $24.95 a quart and is available from their web site or at Flying J Service Centers.
