Full faceshield versus safety glasses

Recently I was working on a car, doing some grinding. I was of course wearing safety glasses -- which is very important -- but on this day something new happened. While grinding, a piece of debris flew back and hit me in the mouth, actually pinging off one of my front teeth. I stopped for a minute and thought to myself, "Sure, my eyes are protected, but what about the rest of my face?" I'd often seen guys, especially in "safety first" environments like a factory floor, wearing clear plastic shields that protected their entire face, and down into the neck area. It never occurred to me that the work I did at the shop warranted such protection. That is, until I heard that fateful "chink" sound that spurred me into action. The next day I bought a full faceshield. It is the one of the smartest things I have ever done. Since I bought it I have heard several pieces of debris ping off of the faceshield, pieces that would have hit me in the face. It's also handy that the whole shield lifts up quickly, as opposed to taking glasses off and on, or sliding them into your hair on top of your head and having them fog up from the sweat. I will never go back to just wearing safety glasses, from now on it's a full faceshield for me.
