Langka Paint Chip Repair

Guide Rating - rating
One of the little things you can do to keep your vehicle looking new is to touch up those little dings and nicks that are inevitable. Now I don't know about you, but I can never get a minor touch up to look as if it wasn't touched up. So when I heard about Langka Paint Chip Repair, I had to try it out and see how good it works.

The Product...

The Blob Eliminator is not a touch up paint, rather it is a solvent that softens the newly applied paint and smoothes it out so it is even with the paint around the scratch or chip. It comes in a complete kit that contains all the items necessary for repairing paint chips and deep scratches and works on any color paint. The is a special kit just for clear coat scratches as well.

The Test...

My 1983 Mercedes Benz has a number of scratches, dings and chips so I was able to try it on different size injuries. I cleaned the test areas with a solvent to make sure it was clean and wax free. I then applied the touch up paint and allowed it to dry for 48 hours. The instructions say "Let dry for 2 hours, up to 4 days (or longer)"

I then wrapped a clean, lint free cloth around the included plastic "buffing card". Following the application instructions I applied The Blob Eliminator. I rubbed it in and used the "buffing card" to smooth out the blob of paint. After a couple of minutes of working the area the paint blob disappeared and the paint was smooth across the existing paint and the newly allied paint. If it were not for the slight color difference between the new and old paint, I would have been hard pressed to see the repair.

I did this on increasingly larger chips and had the same results. I did 7 chips and a couple of 6 inch long scratches and they all came out smooth and almost impossible to see.

The Results...

The product worked as advertised and was easy to use. I had my girlfriend try it on her car and she got the same results I did. With the cost of repairing a scratch going as high as $500.00 or $600.00, this is a good way to increase it's value and just look good again. [pI do think the instructions could be a bit clearer and detailed, but you should be able to do a good job with it. The MSRP is only $39.95 and you can buy a CD detailing the process for $4.95.
