I drive a 1992 Honda Accord EX with 125,000 miles. The engine light came on, and not wishing to panic I visited this site, looked up "Honda" and "engine light" & eventually got to "Troubleshooting" which I'd recommend to anyone. So I narrowed the problem down to (probably) the fuel filter, which is original to the car.

I didn't initially consider Midas. After all, they're known for brakes & mufflers, but I'd seen an ad somewhere that said they do oil changes, and I thought they might do more than that, so I went on over.

I asked for a maintenance inspection, and talked with the service manager about the light coming on, and some acceleration problems I'd been having. He quizzed me pretty thoroughly about when the problems occurred, as well as my own maintenance records. And then he diagnosed the need to clean the fuel injector system, as well as replace the valve cover gasket (so That's what that smell was!). Total charges: $311.39. They also gave me a written estimate for having the fuel filter replaced. And while the car was on the rack, he pointed out that the boots need to be replaced "soon" because of dry rot.

I don't know for sure if these charges are high, medium, or low for the work that was done. I felt treated fairly, and don't feel ripped off. I feel that the shop wants me to be involved & more knowledgable about my car. And I guess a good mechanic should be like a good therapist, increasing your passion about your car. I'm very pleased with this Midas shop & would recommend them to anyone in the northern VA area looking for an honest, reputable shop to do their repairs.

I took my 1991 Honda accord for a oil leak and the mechanic replaced gasket and cleaned the oil pan (he mentioned that metal pieces need to be cleaned, he told me that the car was poorly maintained by the other owner.)

I was charged $680.00 for the same. Car started leaking again this time he said I need to pay $680.00 to replace the timing belt.

I took the car to a Meinke Discount Mufflers and got the estimate for less than $400.00 Theses guys tried to rip me off twice, Luckily I escaped second time.
