Repair Shop Reviews
They saw that desperation and took advantage of it. Here are the things they did wrong: 1. Told us our tires are rated for 75,000 miles treadwear - when in fact they are only 40,000 mile tires. 2. Insisted the car needed "new rear calipers" at a cost of $450.00. Strangely, no other shop in town thought so. In fact, the local Nissan dealer has never, ever in 10 years, replaced rear calipers on a Nissan vehicle. Shops that looked at the calipers said they were FINE and Big "O" was trying to steal, essentially. 3. Passed car inspection anyway, on the condition that we bring it back the next day for repairs, even with bad rear brakes (they actually needed rotors and pads, not calipers) and bad wipers. This is illegal. 4. Demanded upfront payment for the $450.00 calipers before we left the shop. We went back this morning, informed them that we'd rather have the brakes done elsewhere, and issued a new check for the work ACTUALLY completed (had put a stop pmt on the old check). Took the car elsewhere, brake job only cost $150.00 for new rotors/pads and the guy was very honest. Everything about Big "O" Tires was skeevy. The employee we dealt with was very sheepish when we told him that they were the ONLY ones who wanted to take us on this $450.00 ride. Whoops, buddy - you got CAUGHT.
We went to Big "O" Tires out of desperation - needing to get matching tires and an inspection to get a vehicle registered after a lapsed registration.
