Defect Summary:
Electric vehicles. The program logic for the motor electronic control unit (ECU) can mistakenly detect a failure of an electrical current sensor at speeds above 50 mph. If this occurs, the ECU quickly reduces vehicle speed in order to maintain proper feedback control.
Consequence Summary:
This can result in a sudden loss of power and unexpected deceleration that could cause a rear-end collision.
Corrective Summary:
Dealers will upgrade the ECU.
