Guide Rating -

I have never been one to really worry about the way my car looks. I have always been more interested in how it ran and that it got me back and forth to work with a reasonable chance of success. So when I got the products from English Custom Polishing I wasn't all that thrilled. I do the wash and wax every other year and I have my car professionally detailed once every two years and leave it at that. But as anyone who lives in the upper mid-west knows, cars take a beating in the winter with all the salt and chemicals on the road. Over the years the chrome gets dull and it is such a gradual process, you never notice it.

I tested their Metal Polish & Restorer, High Performance Truckers Blend, Hot Environment, Showman's Ultra Fine Polish and Custom Blend Show Quality Polish.

I used the Hot Environment polish on my chrome bumpers according to the directions on the bottle and after doing half of the rear bumper, I was amazed at how big a difference there was. I could actually see myself clearly in the bumper. I finished up both bumpers and I was really impressed on how good they looked. With a little more work it took out all those little salt pits in the chrome also. When I was done I tried out the Showman's Ultra Fine Polish and when I was done, the bumper was so smooth it was like sliding your hand across a sheet of glass.

I used it on different cars and different metals and with the same good results. But I wanted to see what it could REALLY do. So I thought about it, trying to think of something really hard. Then a thought struck me, and it hurt. I had a box of kitchen pans from when my house burned down. They were scorched and burnt and I had tried to get them clean enough to use again but gave up. Nothing I used would get then clean.

I used the Metal Polish & Restorer on one steel frying pan and with a bit of work, the burn marks started to come out. I did half the pan and the difference was amazing. After about 30 minutes of work the one side looked almost like a new pan. I then used the High Performance Truckers Blend and then the Hot Environment polishes. When I was done, the one half of the pan looked new again. I tried it on a couple of aluminum pans and a stainless steel sauce pot and got similar results.

Now don't think you are going to just put this stuff on and wipe it off and get a nice finish. It does require some elbow grease. The one frying pan took me two hours to get looking new again. The more damaged the metal, the more work you will need to do. But, in my opinion, the results justify the time involved.

Anyone with a special or favorite car, or even a restored classic will be able to use these polishes and be sure of good results. Or use it if you just want to make your daily driver look good. They offer a wide range of products for automotive, antique and jewelry and the tools to apply them with.

The cost varies from about $13.00 to about $16.50 per bottle. Each bottle also comes with a pair of latex gloves to protect your hands and a polishing cloth. Their web site also gives you complete information on what polish to use on what metals and tips and techniques on getting the best results. They even have a phone number you can call to get help with their products.

Over all I am very impressed with their products and I would have no problem recommending them to my friends and customers.
