Definition: A type of advanced antilock brake/traction control system that uses the brakes to assist steering maneuvers and to help improve vehicle handling and stability as driving conditions change. The system includes various sensors that monitor the driver's steering inputs and the position of the body with respect to the road. A "yaw sensor" can tell if the vehicle is starting to understeer or oversteer in a turn. The stability control system is active fulltime and will apply individual brakes to create a counter-steer effect that brings the vehicle back under control.
