Honda Accord Don't Like Rain

Q. I have 1991 Honda Accord which has performed beautifully for 12 years. Lately it sometimes will not start after a long period of rain. It will crank, but not turn over. Basically, I have to wait until it seems to dry out before it will turn over.

I'm no "under the hood" expert, but a neighbor mentioned it may be wetness getting under the distributor cap. What are your thoughts on how to diagnose and fix this problem.

Thanks...

A. I think your neighbor is right. It is quite likely the problem is due to a bad distributor cap and rotor. You can take it off and you may see some tiny hairline cracks on the inside or some carbon tracking. If you don't, I would replace them anyway.
