Chevy Lumina APV Cranks, Won't Start
Q. Dear Sir, My problem is I was driving down the road and then I lost complete acceleration. The van I am driving is a 1994 Chevy Lumina APV 3.1 liter V-6. It has an automatic transmission and has 178,000 miles. It will crank up but not turn over. I recently changed the alternator, battery, water pump, and starter within the last two months. I can smell the gas going to the engine but I really can't figure out what the problem is. Any help would be much appreciated.
Thanks...
A. Sounds like it could be lack of spark. Pull a plug wire off and see if spark will jump off a small screwdriver inserted into the terminal. Spark will jump to ground meaning you will need to hold the screwdriver about a½" away from ground.
