Honda Has A Rattle
Q. I own a 1991 Honda Civic wagon. Recently, I had new shocks and struts put in as my mechanic noted in a previous service visit that they needed replacing. The car rides as good as it ever has, with one exception. At really low speeds (city driving) I hear a sound that comes out of the front left tire, as if a chain is loose. It is only audible at low speeds, but I have had enough problems with this car this year so I had my mechanic check it again. He took a test drive but didn't hear anything and he said nothing was wrong. Yet the sound still arises at low speeds. I'm afraid something will go wrong. Who is right?
Thanks,
FredA. Fred, whenever a customer comes in with a complaint such as yours. I let them take me on a road test. They know what conditions the problem manifests itself and it insures that the customer and I are, and I hate this expression, on the same page as it were.
I would recommend going back, and you drive the car so you get the noise to appear and then both of you will know that there is, indeed, a problem.
