Pontiac Grand Prix Shift Solenoids

Q. Hello, I have a 1997 Pontiac Grand Prix GT 3.8 liter V-6 and automatic transmission. I was having problems with it shifting. I ran the codes and one came up saying there was a sticking shifting solenoid. Is this internal or external? If external, where can I locate it? What can I do?

Thank you for your time,
Anthony

A. The shift solenoids are inside the side cover of trans. Not a DIY job. Take it to a dealer. There are tons of service bulletins out on these transmissions and yours is probably a suspect that needs updated solenoids.
