Ford Explorer Coil Power

Q. This is a question for a 1991 or 1994 Ford Explorer. Running perfect. Died on highway. No power to coil pack. Replaced crank sensor on balancer. Still cannot get any power to coil pack. Checked all fuses in fuse panel. Checked fuses under hood, (which is high amperage under hood.) Still no start, no power to coil pack.

Engine size 4.8 liter V-6. Cannot find loss of power to coil pack. Is there a relay or inline fuse in harness? And if so, where is it located? Could it be in the ignition switch? Is there a nurser switch or safety switch that should checked? And if so, where is it located?

Thanks,
Jerry

A. There was no 4.8 liter engine in those year Ford Explores, so I'm going to assume it is a 4.0 liter engine, which was the only engine available in these years.

Power for the ignition coil flows from the ignition switch via a red/light green wire directly to the ignition coil. If everything else works, then you probably have a bad ignition switch or a broken red/light green wire.
