Dodge Starter

Q. I own a 1993 Dodge Intrepid ES. Where could I obtain a photo detailing the parts of the engine? (ie starter, hoses, etc.) Recently, the car will not always start. It is not battery related as the clock, radio settings, bells, lights etc are not interrupted or even dimmed.

(I have had battery trouble with he vehicle before and the radio settings is the first to go!) When I turn the key, sometime I get a single click noise. What could be the cause of this starting problem?

Thank you.

A. A Chiltons Manual will give you the diagrams that you want, They do a pretty good job of providing pictures and diagrams of almost everything.

Personally, I think you just have a bad starter or starter solenoid. What you can do to check it is to put a test light on the small terminal on the starter solenoid and see if there is power there when the key is turned to the START position. If there is, then the solenoid is bad and needs to be replaced. I would suggest replacing the starter and solenoid as a unit.
