Kia Sephia Check Engine Light On Q. I bought a 2001 Kia Sephia LS 4-door. I'm apprehensive and afraid I've made a costly mistake. It seems to burn a lot of gas and the Check Engine Light has come on already. And I've only owned it for four days!! It has 50,000 miles on the odometer, that's not a lot, is it? Please help me understand this car.

May I have your opinion about this vehicle's performance, repair and maintenance history?

A. I can't tell you about this particular vehicle, but in general the Kia Sephia is a fairly well built automobile and is not out of line regarding repair and maintenance compared to other vehicles in it's class.

Now because the MIL is on, doesn't mean the end of the world. Take it into a Kia dealer and let them pull the DTC's out of the computer. There is a 90% chance the DTC will tell them what is wrong and have it repaired correctly. I'll bet the ranch that it is tied in directly with the fuel consumption problem as well.
