1966 Chevy Questions
Q. I have a 1966 Chevy Impala convertible with manual drum brakes. I would like to change to power disc brakes. Is there a later GM swap that would change out? Or did 1966 have factory power disc brakes?
I have a 1966 Chevy impala with power steering & auto on the column. What I'm looking for is a tilt column not necessary out of Chevy, but maybe Olds, Pontiac, or Cadillac 1960 thru 1970. Do you have anyway of crossing this over.
Thank you any info.
JamesA. That car can be converted to front disc brakes. I have never done the actual conversion myself but I have heard of it being done. You can get a kit that has everything you need from Stainless Steel Brakes that has everything you need to do the conversion. The kit for your car is A129-4.
The tilt wheel is a bit more of a problem. I don't know for sure if tilt wheel was available in 1966. Your best bet would be to go to a salvage yard and they can tell you if it was available and what parts are interchangeable from model to model.
