Ford Mustang Backup Lights And Horn

Q. Hello Vince, I have a 1988 Ford Mustang GT. The horn blows fuses real quick, it does need some new padding between the plates on the horn button. It does have cruise control and I also checked out the cigarette lighter. Also my backup lights don't work, turn signals do. I did replace the lights. I need to get these working for inspection. Thanks for having a web site like this.

Have a good day,

Ford Mustang Backup Lights And Horn

A. It should be fairly easy to troubleshoot these two circuits. If you read my article Electrical Troubleshooting for tips on locating a short circuit. Also read Loading A Circuit For Testing for a handy little tool.

In a nutshell, you need to cut both circuits into sections and eliminate each section as you go. It shouldn't take too long to find the problems.
