Chevrolet Astro Max A/C

Q. I have a 1996 Chevrolet Astro van. The air conditioning has two settings: A/C and Max A/C. When you put it on Max A/C the fan speed increases (higher than the normal high fan setting). My question is: when I select the Max A/C setting, should it blow harder out of all of the vents or just the passenger side vents? Mine just blows harder on the passenger side.

Thanks for your help.
Gary

A. If you read your owners manual, it would explain this. The max setting is the same fan speed, it just feels like it's blowing harder. It actually is recirculating the air from inside the vehicle (which will cool it faster). There is a vacuum motor that opens a door under the dash and it probably would "feel" like it's blowing more from the passenger side. The normal setting switches the air inlet to the outside. Your problem sounds like it's normal.
