Eagle Talon Starter Problem

Q. Hello, I have an 1996 Eagle Talon ESI, 2WD, manual transmission 2.0 liter engine, about 34,000 miles. I have had problems starting it, and decided to give it a "tune up". I changed the spark plugs, spark plug wires, and air filter. Then it wouldn't start at all. The starter motor didn't make a noise.

Eagle Talon Starter Problem

I have checked the battery (it's okay) and changed the starter. I have checked to see if I get voltage to the starter and I do (13 volts). When I turn the key, there is a clicking noise (relay) and the fuel pump starts to go, but the starter motor still does nothing. Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks,
George

A. There's not much to the starting system. If you have battery voltage at the yellow wire at the starter, then the ignition switch, starter relay and wiring are all good. If the cable going from the battery to the starter is good with clean and tight connections, then the starter/solenoid is no good.

Have you tried jump starting it or putting in a new battery? Try and start it with the headlights on. Do the lights dim or shut off when you try to start it? If they do the battery is toast. If not then you do have a wiring problem. But I'm betting battery.
