Ford Mustang Cruise Control Inop
Q. Hello Mr. Vincent. I was searching for repair manuals for my car and thank goodness I came across your site. Hopefully you can answer my question. It's concerning about my cruise control on my 1997 Ford Mustang. I mean the cruise control doesn't work anymore and I don't know why.
It was working one day, then the next day it wasn't working anymore. I kind of like to fix things on my own and I was just wondering if you have any suggestion in finding out what is wrong with my cruise control and maybe even suggesting on how to go about fixing it?
A. There are so many reasons why the cruise control would stop working. One of the first things to check is that the horn works (it's a Ford) and that there are no bulbs, especially brake light bulbs, are burnt out. Check the HORN fuse in the Power Distribution B and fuse box fuses 9 (15A) and 6 (15A).
If that's okay, access the DTCs in the PCM. The PCM will store cruise control codes but won't turn the MIL on since it is not emissions related.
