Nissan Altima Died On The Road

Q. First of all, thank you!!!! I have a 1998 Nissan Altima SE, automatic transmission, 140,000 miles. I've had no major problems with my car until recently. I was driving the car when all of a sudden I noticed the airbag light, brake light, and battery light flickering on and off. Shortly thereafter the car completely stalled. The alternator and battery were changed and the car worked perfectly for about two months.

Then it happened again. I bought another battery, and had the fuel filter and the wiring from the alternator to the battery replaced. The car worked fine again for about three days. While driving on the interstate at about 70 mph I noticed the airbag light, the brake light, and the battery light all come on again. About ten minutes later the radio cut off and the car died.

I've taken the car to several mechanics and changed several parts, but the car continues to die out, and at really bad places. Please help!!!!! I would appreciate your input greatly.

A. I would check all the fusible links and make sure they are all good. Take each one out, grab the ends and pull. If they stretch like a rubber band, they are no good. If they don't stretch, they are okay.

Loading A Circuit For Testing

Another possibility is the ignition switch is bad. It will be hard to prove if the car starts right up afterwards, but should be easy to test when the car is dead.
