Dodge Dakota Clutch Slave Cylinder
Q. Hi there. Thank you in advance for your time. I have a 1997 Dodge Dakota 2.5 liter 4 cylinder engine. 5 speed manual transmission and approximately 96,000 miles. Recently I had to change the clutch assembly and throw out bearing. In the process of this the slave cylinder of the hydraulic assist on the clutch was broken.
After extensive searching I was able to find the cylinder and replace it. My question is how do I bleed the system of air since there is no bleeder valve? My Haynes manual says that it would come already filled and sealed but this was not the case. Any help you can give me on this would be most appreciated.
Thank you again for your help,
JessicaA. The Master Cylinder, Slave Cylinder and Hydraulic Tube are supposed to be replaced as an assembly. If they are replaced as such, no bleeding is required.
Without a bleed screw, all you can do is fill the slave cylinder with brake fluid. To fill it, immerse it in brake fluid and work the push rod until there are no more air bubbles.
