Chrysler Transmission Cooler
Q. Good Day: I want to install a transmission cooler on my 2002 Chrysler Town and Country van. (I want to tow a motorcycle occasionally.) The van has the 3.8 liter FI V-6, automatic transmission, ABS brakes, P/S, A/C, and cruise.
From what I've read, normally two lines go between the radiator and transmission. Upon my initial inspection, I could not see any transmission lines going to the radiator. (There were several covers blocking my view, and I didn't feel like taking them off.) But, I found a small radiator behind the transmission (located on the bottom of the van, between the passenger and driver's seat) with two lines connected to it.
The lines appeared to run to the transmission, so I'm wondering if that's the transmission cooler, and that the lines do not run to the radiator?
Thanks for your help.
AlanA. That is the factory transmission cooler and the lines do not need to go to the radiator. This takes some of the load off the cooling system while improving transmission cooling.
