Nissan Quest Fuel Pump Replacement Q. Dear Mr. Ciulla, I have a 1993 Nissan Quest. Recently it is "buzzing" rear underneath while engine is running. By researching your web site, I think that the fuel Pump needs to be replaced. I would like to do it by myself. Through your article, I have learned that for most Japanese cars fuel pumps can be accessed through a panel.

Could you please tell me if I can access the fuel pump through a panel without lowering or removing the fuel tank? Your help is really appreciated.

A. You are correct in that most Japanese vehicles have an access panel for fuel pump replacement.

However, this vehicle was built by Ford so you will have to drop the fuel tank to replace the fuel pump.
