Engine Control Systems Q. Hi Vincent, Can you tell me how companies made the computerized engine control system for the Chrysler, Ford, General Motor and Nissan. I'm from México and I'm planning to make a business to repair or buying the computers. Thanks a lot, Eduardo

A. Over the years one of the things that always amazed me was the way car makers think up the stuff they do. Computer controlled engines and transmissions are really amazing in the way they work and, most times, I have a great respect on how they come up with this stuff.

Unfortunately I'm just a dumb mechanic and I have no idea how they do the things they do. The engineers who figure these things out are the ones you really want to talk to. I can diagnose a problem to a component and understand what it's supposed to do, but to actually fix a control module is beyond my ability.
