Continuing Jeep Cherokee ABS Problem
Q. Hello Vincent, Came across your web site and was looking for your opinion and assistance. I purchased a 1991 Jeep Cherokee a year ago or so. The ABS light keeps coming on. Brought in for service 10/24/02, Replaced "ABS Pump" front and rear wheel speed sensors. Brought in for service, 10/02/03 to 10/9/03, found out the ABS pump was a recall.
Replaced ABS Actuator Pump Motor Assembly, shift interlock, brake rotors, I think. Processed under warranty claim R. Brought in for services 10/14/03, ABS light still on. Recheck ABS light, replaced left front speed sensor. So far have spent approximately $1300.00 and each time I pick up the vehicle, the ABS light comes on.
Each time the vehicle is brought in for services, it is because the ABS light is on. The brakes still do not function very well and I need to have this fixed but am unable to bring to the same dealer. Any insight or suggestions you may have would be very helpful.
Thank you,
Aliceann
MassachusettsA. I don't really know what to tell you. At this point I think I would talk to the Service Manager and Dealer Principal and find some way to resolve this. After spending that much money to fix a problem that is not fixed, they should be held accountable for some of the costs and fix the problem.
Another option is to take it to another dealer or an independent shop, have the problem fixed and then take the original dealer to Small Claims Court to recover what ever you feel is fair and due you.
