Ranger Fuel Filter

Q. I have a 1999 Ford Ranger bi-fuel 3.0 manual transmission. My question is getting the fuel filter off on the side coming from the tank. There is a metal clip holding the filter on. It comes off with ease, however when that comes off its not over. There are three tiny metal prongs inside the coupler that hold the filter inside.

Is there a tool I need to buy to get this thing off? The other side has the plastic clip, it's easy, but the other is driving me nuts.

A. There is a special set of fuel line release tools. You can buy them at almost any parts store. The set contains several different sizes for the various fuel lines used.
