Chevy Camaro Acting Sluggish
Q. Vincent, I have a 1995 Chevy Camaro Z28, 350 V-8, 6 speed with 68,000 miles. The problem occurring is frustrating the heck out of me. The problem is after the car warms up, it seems like the motor is bogged down. I thought maybe it was the catalytic converter, but everything sounds fine coming from the exhaust pipes, no glowing converter, etc.
Another thing I see is when I start the car up, all is well. I keep steady pressure on the gas pedal at 2,000 rpm, and then once my problem starts happening, I see the tachometer drop to 1,500 rpm, then jump back to 2,000. While trying to drive the car up the street, it will act real sluggish, sounds bogged down, then the tachometer, and rpm will jump to where they should be. Then the cycle repeats itself.
Thus far, I have replaced the fuel filter and PCV valve. In a nutshell, everything seems fine until the car warms up. Any ideas?
Thanks. Best Regards,
PatrickA. Sounds like you need to get it scanned for codes and maybe a road test with it hooked up. It could it be the opti-spark distributor. Sometimes the water pumps leak onto the distributor. Then coolant gets inside the distributor. Not a good situation.
