Loud Ford Mustang?
Q. Hello I don't know if this is really a problem, but it's something my car has been doing since I got it. I have a 1995 Ford Mustang convertible. 3.8 liter V-6 engine, fuel injection, automatic transmission, ABS, cruise control and 93,000 miles.
My question is: to me my car runs loud when you first crank it up. It shoots up to around 4,000 rpm's then you hear the engine and see it slowly go down to around 1,000 rpm's. It makes a whistling noise until it goes down to around 1,000 rpm's.
My father says he doesn't know how Mustangs run or sound so he figures they must run that way. We put on a new water pump and belt when we first go the car because we though that was where the sound was coming from but it never changed.
Also it makes the same squealing noise when your driving until it goes into like third gear then it runs so nice and quiet. Also if you don't wait and let it go down when you first crank it up, it jerks into reverse but if you wait it goes into gear smoothly. So I basically want to know is it just me with the problem and not the car?
Thanks so much for listening,
CorneliusA. I don't know what you mean by "loud". This is something that I really can't help you with without listening to it. So I'm not going to say this is normal or not normal. I would suggest stopping by a shop and have a mechanic listen to it and see what he thinks. Or maybe leave it over night at a Ford dealership and get their opinion.
Sorry I can't help you.
